Online Tutoring

So, you're thinking about hiring Ms.Teachalot for online tutoring, but you have a few concerns:

How does online tutoring work?

Is it easy?

Is it efficient?

Is it for me?

The following video will answer all those questions. Ms.Teachalot will show you examples of what online tutoring might look like for your situation and then you can decide if it's a good fit for you.

If you've decided online tutoring is the perfect fit for you, here's what you need to do next to arrange an appointment:

1. Email Sara and request to be added to the mailing list.

2. Once you've received an "availability" email send Sara a message with your requested time to meet.

3. If your requested time is still available, send an e-transfer ($40/hour) to Sara to book the appointment.

Once you've confirmed your appointment you'll need to do the following in preparation for the appointment:

1. Download Skype for free.

2. Add Sara on Skype: ms.s.teachalot_1

3. Get Microsoft OneNote (it's free). Kevin has a great video to show you how to do so.

4. Send Sara any content you'd like to use/work on during your appointment via email. That can be slides your prof posted on Google Classroom, Moodle, or Brightspace, assignments saved in a file, periodic tables and statistics tables you've been using in class, pictures of textbook problems, etc. Please send the content at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment so Sara has time to create the document you will be using.

Fifteen minutes before your appointment you should do the following:

1. Open and login to Skype.

2. Do a test call on Skype to make sure your video and audio are working properly.

3. Open the OneNote document Sara sent you.

4. Be sure to have all the materials you'll need for the appointment with you: notebook, pencil, eraser, calculator, periodic table or statisics tables.....water, coffee, snacks, and a cat in your lap.... :)

And enjoy being taught in the comfort of your own home in your pj's!
